Today we launch our new "Spotlight On" feature taking an in-depth look at some of the different departments on a tour, starting with backline. Backline techs are responsible for the setup, care and continued maintenance of the artist's touring musical gear, a crucial and often challenging task given the rigours of life on the road for any equipment. As technology has advanced and live shows have become ever-more complex, the role of the humble roadie has morphed into several highly-skilled and specialised disciplines critical to the success of each live show.
